South Korea warns again of strong responses to North Korea’s provocations

SANAA, June 18 (YPA) – South Korea threatened to respond forcefully and without hesitation”, if North Korea makes military provocations, amid escalating tensions in the wake of the North’s threats to the south.
“Our army takes the current situation very seriously and we will keep ready while we manage the situation in a stable way to prevent escalation into a military crisis,” South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyung-do said on Thursday.

He stressed that, “If North Korea provokes military provocations, we will respond forcefully without hesitation.”
Jeong called for the continued international support of South Korea in its efforts for peace and prosperity on the peninsula.
Tensions have escalated on the Korean peninsula after North Korea threatened to thwart all joint ventures and launch military action against what it described as the enemy, noting that Seoul was not preventing North Korean defectors from sending flyers critical of the North Korean leader across the border.
