French President exempt from coronavirus quarantine during UK visit

SANAA, June 18 (YPA) – French President Emmanuel Macron will leave on Thursday, for a visit to Britain, and he will cross the English Channel, to participate in the commemoration of General Charles de Gaulle’s speech to resist Nazism.

Macron trip is the first abroad since his participation in the Italian-French summit in Naples on February 27.
The visit comes to express thanks to the British for standing with General de Gaulle in the fight against Nazism 80 years ago, and for emphasizing also the close historical ties between the two countries.
A spokesman for the British Prime Minister stated that the French President and his accompanying delegation will not submit to the quarantine imposed on arrivals to Britain, according to the exemptions approved by the British government.
Macon will be staying at the headquarters of Prince Charles, the British Crown Prince, in the heart of London, and the procedures and rules for quarantine will be observed there.
It is noteworthy that, on this day 80 years ago, General de Gaulle extended an invitation from London to its military and civilian citizens to resist, pending the assistance of Britain and the United States to fight Nazi Germany.
