4 soldiers killed in battle in India-controlled Kashmir
SANAA, May 3 (YPA) -Four Indian army soldiers, including two officers and a police officer, were killed in a fierce gunbattle in the volatile part of India-controlled Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.
According to Xinhua, the battle erupted on Saturday in Handwara District, Kupwar Frontier District, 76 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir.
The battle between the two sides continued for several hours until late.
A statement released by the Indian army said that two gunmen were also killed.
Officials said the area was cordoned off based on intelligence information indicating the presence of armed men in the area.
