Grande said in a statement that Yemen “has been exposed to flood as result of the heavy rains that occur once per generation and affected more than one hundred thousand people throughout the country since the middle of April.”

The UN official emphasized thousands of the Yemenis families have suffered the very difficult conditions due to they lost shelter, food rations and household equipment.

The statement pointed out that the floods that hit the capital Sanaa, Aden, Abyan, Lahj and Marib recently have caused damages of roads, bridges and the electricity network, as well as pollution of the water networks, and hindering access basic services to thousands of people.

“None of us really knows how much suffering the Yemeni people can endure. Grande added, “the warning parties need the courage to stop fighting and start negotiating.”
