Aden governor launches distress call after floods disaster

SANAA, April 22 (YPA) – Governor of Aden province Tariq Mustafa Sallam on Wednesday launched a distress call to save the people afflicted and affected by the heavy rains in the province.

In a press release, the governor warned of a humanitarian catastrophe that could kill hundreds of Aden’s residents due to the accelerated collapse of infrastructure and services and the flooding of the city as a result of the torrents.

“The situation in Aden today revealed the opportunism in which the past and present regimes boasted in the name of Aden and its fake projects,” the governor said.

Sallam pointed to the appalling conditions in the city of Aden and the danger that threaten the lives of the afflicted civilians without any real movement by the forces of aggression and occupation, as well as the looting and destruction that the city is witnessing in the absence of basic services.

He added that the previous warnings and appeals made by the Sanaa government to civil organizations and the hostile party in Aden were met with careless.

The governor appealed to international and humanitarian organizations and civil society organizations to provide various types of urgent support to the afflicted in Aden.

Sallam confirmed the keenness of the political leadership in Sanaa represented by the Supreme Political Council and the Salvation Government to provide all aspects of support and services to the city of Aden.
