SANAA, May 4 (YPA) – The New York Times revealed that the United States has sent US troops to take part in the war against Yemen.
US Special Forces units “Green Berets” have been deployed since the end of the year (2017) on Saudi border with Yemen, saying that US troops arrived in Saudi Arabia last December.
The US troop deployment shows a greater involvement of the United States in the war against Yemen in which 39 civilians were killed and many others were wounded and caused the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, according to the United Nations.
The Green Berets are units of the US commandos who are responsible for the Saudi military’s assistance in securing the border with Yemen, the paper said.
Sending US troops to the war against Yemen is contradicting with the Pentagon’s remarks saying that US assistance in the war against Yemen is limited to the logistical support of supplying fuel to Saudi aircraft and providing intelligence information, the New York Times commented.
A number of US congressional officials confirmed during hearing sessions last month that they were receiving orders from Washington to help the Saudis to defend their borders, while Robert was admitted that the U.S sent 50 experts to help Saudi Arabia to deal with the threat of Yemeni missiles.
