Dozens of UAE armored vehicles arrive in Shabwa
SHABWA, Dec. 17 (YPA) – Dozens of the UAE military armored vehicles on Monday evening arrived in the oil-rich province of Shabwa, southeast of Yemen, military sources reported.
The sources said that the command of the UAE forces at Al-Rayyan Airport in Mukalla city, the capital of Hadramout province, reinforced its Sudanese mercenary troops at the oil port of Belhaf on the Arabian Sea with dozens of military vehicles in anticipation of any confrontations with Hadi’s forces and Islah Party militants controlling Ataq city, the capital of Shabwa.
The move came as a response to the Islah party, which continues to push military reinforcements towards Shabwa and Abyan provinces from Marib and Jawf provinces, the sources explained.
Hadi’s forces and Islah militants, backed by Saudi forces, controlled Ataq city in Shabwa after fierce battles, during which they managed to drive out the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militias from the city in last August.
