Gas-laden tanker damage by armed tribesmen east of Marib
MARIB, June 18 (YPA) – Activists on social media shared a video showing a gas tanker being damaged by armed members of the Al-Aushan tribe on the Al-Abr road, east of Marib province, an area under the Saudi-led coalition’s control.
The footage, recorded on Tuesday, shows the tanker being disabled in the Ghuwayrban area of Al-Thaniya while en route to Shabwa province.
This incident resulted in the death of its driver, Hussein Awad Al-Harsh Al-Khalifi, and the injury of his companion, Abdulrahman Saleh Jalaoum Al-Khalifi, both from Shabwa.
On Sunday, the Al-Aushan tribe had set up an armed checkpoint to prevent gas tankers from leaving the Safer facility towards southern provinces. The tribe is demanding the release of detainee Nasser Ali Hussein Aushan from prisons controlled by pro-coalition Islah Party factions in Mahra province.
This incident unfolds amidst escalating security chaos in areas under the coalition’s control, with no action being taken to clear the roads for gas tankers heading towards Aden and other southern provinces, where a severe crisis is worsening residents’ hardships.
