Al-Houthi praises coast guard’s deterrence against violations of Yemen’s sovereignty

SANAA, Nov. 19 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has praised the vigilance of the Yemeni navy, coast guard and their seizing  of three foreign ships that violated Yemen’s territorial waters.

He assured every one of the safeties of the three crews, explaining that they are subject to legal procedures.

“Yemen Coast Guard under the Ministry of Interior has officially announced that it has seized 3 foreign ships, one of them being a Saudi tanker named “Rabigh-3”, just three miles from the Yemeni Island Abqan in the Red Sea.

The move came in a statement issued on Monday night.

“The seizing of the Saudi tanker comes, as the ship was entering Yemeni territorial waters illegally and contrary to maritime jurisdiction, the statement read.

The Yemeni Coast Guard and the Ministry of Interior affirms its commitment to protect Yemen’s national sovereignty by any means necessary, the statement added

“The three ships have been taken to the salif pier, in order to take legal procedures and addressee the relevant authorities,” the statement said.

“Thank you ” the  Yemeni navy forces and coast guard” for their successive achievements. Yemen’s waters are protected by these brave people,” Said Mohammed al-Houthi on Twitter

Al-Houthi responded to the coalition’s claim that “a Saudi ship was hijacked, towing a South Korean drilling rig.”

He added, “there is a suspicion, and the Yemeni Coast Guard is doing its job to ascertain whether the ships belong to the countries of aggression or the State of South Korea.”.

“If the ships were for State of South Korea، it will be released after completing legal proceedings, as in any similar case in Yemen’s territorial waters. We assure everyone that no worries about the crews or others,” the political council member added.

The Yemeni Coast Guard vowed that will spare no effort in taking all measures to protect Yemeni waters, and promised to “reveal the details of this security achievement as soon as investigations and legal proceedings are completed.”
