SANAA, Oct. 31 (YPA) – The National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Thursday said that a hurricane called “Maha” formed in east-south of Arabian Sea and was stationed at 11:42 latitude North and 72:36 longitude East.
The Center confirmed in a warning bulletin this morning that the development of the storm “Maha” and its subsequent course is being followed by the Center’s cadres.
With regard to the strong cyclone “Kyarr”, the Center explained that it is moving southwest with very heavy rains around its center, predicting that it would gradually change over the next 24 hours from a strong hurricane to a storm and then into an air depression.
NMC said that the storm’s center is currently located at longitude 60.6 east, latitude 18.6 north, and moves at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour, indicating that it is away from Socotra at a distance of 780 kilometers, and form Ghaydha, the capital of Mahra province, at 800 kilometers.
The winds will be strong at the center of the storm and will have a speed of 46 to 52 knots, and the sea will also be turbulent to rough, with a wave height of 5-8 meters around the center of the storm.
The Center warned captains of all kinds of ships, fishermen and sea-goers from the bad weather conditions in the strong cyclone storm area and neighboring areas.
