SANAA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – The Ministry of Public Health and Population is preparing a national campaign to fight dengue fever and malaria in the coming week, Yusuf al-Hadri, spokesman for the ministry said on Saturday.
Al-Hadri said in an exclusive statement to the Yemen press Agency that the campaign will be conducted in cooperation with the most important service sectors and relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Water and Environment, Agriculture, Education, Awaqaf, Higher Education and local councils in the provinces.
“The number of people infected with dengue fever and malaria have exceeded 100,000, and six provinces are being targeted in the campaign, including Hodeidah, Hajjah mainly in Mahwait, Ibb, Taiz and Riymah,” he added.
“Under the current circumstances, the Ministry of Health is doing its best to combat the epidemics that appear as a result of the disruption of many services, including dengue fever and malaria, which is spreading in Hodeidah and Hajjah provinces,” he said.
He added: “The campaign will involve spraying smoke, mosquito nets, awareness, guidance and the disbursement of medicines in order to contribute to achieve its desired objectives and in cooperation with all sides.”
