Iraq: 104 killed, 6,000+ injured during protests
SANAA, Oct. 7 (YPA) – The spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and Baghdad Operations, Saad Maan al-Moussawi, said 104 people were killed and more than 6,000 others injured during the protests.
Al-Moussawi said at a press conference for the spokespersons of the ministries of defense, interior, health and joint operations in Iraq, that among the dead eight security forces.
“Fifty-one public buildings and eight political party headquarters have been burnt down by demonstrators,” he said.
The spokesman of the Iraqi Interior added that there are malicious hands behind the targeting of protesters, pointing out that an investigation has been opened in the body behind the targeting of demonstrators.
Al-Moussawi said that there was no clash between the protesters and security forces, and said that the Interior Ministry has opened an investigation into the attacks on media.
