Soldier killed, 2 injured in armed attack on military post in Hadramout
HADRAMOUT, June 1 (YPA) – An armed attack on Saturday targeted a military post belonging to Saudi-backed militia in the province of Hadramout, eastern Yemen, killing one soldier and injuring two others.
“The attack is believed to be carried out by al-Qaeda militants on a military point of the First Military Region loyal to the exiled Hadi forces in al-Abr area, west of Hadramout Valley,” military sources said.
Military points belonging to the Saudi-backed militias spread all the way from Sayoun city and through al-Abr area to the border port of al-Wadea’h. Some of them have been set up after the exposure of many Yemenis coming from Saudi Arabia for looting by bandits.
Hadramout province has been witnessing a state of conflict and division between Saudi-allied militias and UAE-backed militias under various names such as al-Qaeda, “Hadrami elite”, southern transitional council, and so forth.
