SANAA, May 14 (YPA) – Spain has decided to withdraw the frigate Méndez Núñez (F-104) temporarily from the US combating groups led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has ordered the temporary withdrawal of the Spanish frigate Méndez Núñez (F-104), with 215 sailors on board, from the combat group led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Middle East, according to “EFE” News Agency.
According to sources in Madrid, the Spanish frigate will be back to join the naval group after the end of the mission currently assigned in the Middle East region.
It is reported that the US combat group led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln Lincoln, crossed the Bab al-Mandab strait, which links the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean and is on its way to the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, but the group according to the Spanish media, will pass the strait without the Spanish frigate.
