SANAA, April 15 (YPA) – The Yemeni national petroleum company and security services have launched a campaign to combat black market dealings for petroleum materials in the capital Sana’a and all other governorates.
In a statement, the company said the move is based on “the responsibility of the company to provide for the needs for citizens in petroleum derivatives of certified technical quality.”
“Petroleum products sold on the black market cause countless disasters affecting various generators, equipment and means of transportation, as they are from unknown sources with poor specifications,” the statement read.
“These materials are not in conformity with the specifications, and has poor transport and storage in reservoirs that do not meet technical standards, as well as leading to exploitation of the needs of the people by greedy persons,” the statement added.
“The people profiting from this illicit earning are mixing petroleum products with other materials in order to increase profits,” she said.
The company warned citizens “not to be dragged behind the purchase of petroleum products from the black market, which are contaminated and not conforming to specifications.”
In its statement, the Yemeni oil company called on all citizens to “interact and report any manifestation of the black market anywhere.”
The campaign of oil and security agencies to combat the black market of oil derivatives coincides with Monday’s distribution of the company’s schedule of the names of the stations that the company in order to meet the needs of the citizens.
