Nine Palestinians martyred, 15 wounded in Israeli strikes on Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces committed a new massacre on Wednesday afternoon by bombing the Municipalities Police headquarters in Gaza City, killing nine people and injuring 15 others, according to local and medical sources.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior condemned the attack, saying Israeli occupation is seeking to eliminate the police force and spread chaos within Palestinian society. It called on mediators and the international community to take urgent action to halt the escalation and massacres.

Gaza Government Media Office Director Ismail Al-Thawabta said the occupation is escalating its targeting of police and security forces in an attempt to undermine the internal front and spread chaos. He stressed that the police perform civilian and service duties to maintain security and protect citizens and property.

He added that Israeli occupation had destroyed most security headquarters and facilities during the war and targeted security personnel, killing thousands of them, including more than 80 police officers and personnel. He called on mediators and the international community to intervene to stop such attacks.

The Palestinian National Gathering of Tribes, Clans and Families also condemned the targeting of security personnel, saying it forms part of a policy aimed at dismantling the internal front and plunging society into chaos. It warned of repercussions for the ceasefire agreement and arrangements for its second phase, and called on mediators and guarantor parties to compel the occupation to stop its violations.
