SANAA, April 3 (YPA) – Ministry of Human Rights announced the death and injury of 42,055 citizens, including women and children, during four years of the aggression against Yemen.
In a report entitled “Statistics of crimes and violations of the aggression coalition on Yemen” reviewed at a press conference held Wednesday in the capital Sanaa, the ministry said that 16, 506 citizens were killed, including 3,534 children and 2,272 women, in direct military operations launched by Saudi-led coalition within four years.
The report added that 25,549 citizens were wounded, including 3,605 children and 2,817 women, indicating that the aggression also caused the disability of tens of thousands of civilians with various disabilities as a result of airstrikes.
According to the report, 229,563 people had died due terrorist attacks, lack of medicines and food, and inability to travel for treatment outside Yemen.
“The aggression and siege caused the death of 247,000 children due to malnutrition and the displacement of more than 3,130,824 citizens,” said the report.
The closure of Sanaa International Airport and the imposition of arbitrary restrictions on the airport and ports caused the death of 32,000 patients, while 230,000 patients and wounded are in urgent need of traveling abroad for treatment, the report added.
In its report, the Ministry of Human Rights referred to the deaths of 2, 919 cases from cholera epidemic, while the number of cases infected with the disease reached 1,493,828 cases, as well as 560, 218 cases infected with malaria and 500,000 people with diabetes do not find the necessary medicines.
The report also reviewed a number of diseases that have killed citizens during four years of the aggression such as measles, cough, smallpox and others. It pointed to the deliberate targeting of houses, markets, service facilities, villages, hills of consolation and weddings in several provinces by the aggression coalition.
More than 500 fishermen were killed and wounded in more than 81 direct and deliberate attacks by the coalition warplanes.
According to the report, the aggression caused in the displacement of citizens of the northern provinces by identity from the southern provinces, and also resulted in the forcible displacement of residents from the villages and towns of Saada, Hodeidah and Hajjah provinces, as well as forcible deportation from villages of Beit al-Sarari, Beit al-Junaid and Beit al-Rimaymah of Taiz province.
In the education sector, the report showed that 4,435,409 students were affected in their education, while the salaries of about 194,417 teachers have been cut since September 2016 because of the transfer of the Central Bank to Aden provinces by the mercenary government loyal to the aggression coalition countries.
According to the report, the coalition airstrikes caused damage to 3,526 schools in 22 provinces, and destroyed 68 educational and administration facilities, 32 public and private universities, 95 institutes and community colleges.
The coalition also destroyed 342 factories belonging to the private sector, 29 media institutions, 28 FM and microwave radio and television broadcasting centers, 473 public and private telecommunications facilities and networks, and 533 facilities, networks and plants of electricity sector.
The report said that coalition air raids destroyed 471 fuel and gas stations, 285 fuel trucks, 103 sports facilities, nine civilian airports, four civil aircrafts, 14 seaports and land ports, 3,216 roads and bridges.
The coalition airstrikes also damaged 403 archaeological sites, historic landmarks and cultural property, in addition to 5,067 different types of transport vehicles, 358 tourist facilities and premises, more than 5,500 agricultural sites and facilities.
In the health sector, the report showed that 439 hospitals and health facilities were destroyed, while 55 percent of hospitals and health facilities were completely shut down and 37 percent of hospitals and health centers were destroyed and severely damaged.
The report pointed out that the aggression targeted 72 ambulances despite the appearance of the international emblem of the Red Crescent on them, as well as targeting of hospitals supervised and managed by MSF in the provinces of Saada, Hajjah, Hodeidah, in addition to a pharmaceutical factory and two other factories for producing oxygen used in hospitals and health centers.
The report affirmed that the coalition used prohibited weapons in its raids on densely-populated neighborhoods, referring to the use of six types of bombs internationally, in addition to an unknown type.
In noted that the cluster bombs used in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah caused the forced displacement of nearly 600,00citizens, in addition to changing many farms into non arable land as a result of radioactive contamination resulting from those bombs.
According to the report, the UAE has established more than 18 secret prisons in the province of Aden, where it held many people from the southern provinces, fate of most of whom are still unknown, in addition to a number of other prisons have been established in Taiz.
