4.4 magnitude earthquake hits southern Iran

SANAA, March 31 (YPA) – A powerful earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook the outskirts of the southern Iranian city of Khormuj on Sunday.

The quake occurred at 3:00, 14 minutes and 25 seconds from dawn on Sunday, the Iranian agency IRNA quoted the seismological center of the Tehran University’s Geophysical Institute as saying.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 18 km and the epicenter was at the northern latitude 28.60 and the eastern length of 51.56 degrees, 18 km from Khormuj City, 29 km from Pushcan City and 29 km from Kaki City Bushehr Province

The agency explained that there were no reports of material or human damage caused by the quake.
