7 Killed, 5 injured in container blast in east China

SANAA, March 31 (YPA) – At least Seven people were killed and five others injured on Sunday morning by a fire and explosion in a metal foundry factory  in eastern China’s Jiangsu province Sunday morning, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred at about 7:00 local time, when a container used to store scrap metal had exploded.

The container, located at a factory for manufacturing precision metal, also caused a fire inside a factory workshop.

Authorities said the scene of the incident had been cleaned up by 10 a.m. and that an investigation is underway.
