Kuwait to boycott Conference in Bahrain because of Israel

SANAA, March 31 (YPA) – Kuwait has decided to boycott a conference in Bahrain scheduled to be held from April 15 to 18, 2019, on the basis of the participation of an Israeli delegation.

Kuwaiti MP Abdullah al-Kandari said that Minister of trade and Industry Khalid al-Rawdan has decided not to participate in the “Entrepreneurship Conference” in response to parliamentary demands.

“I thank Minister Khalid al-Rawdane’s response after a telephone call, and he assured me that he decided not to participate in the Bahrain Entrepreneurship Conference and apologized for not attending the event,” he said on his Twitter account.

“The participation of a delegation from Israel in the Bahrain Entrepreneurship Conference requires the immediate withdrawal of the Kuwaiti delegation, represented by Trade Minister Khalid al-Rawdane and the rest of the participants,” he said, adding that “the withdrawal is a commitment to the leadership and the Kuwaiti people who reject normalization with Israeli Entity.”

Bahrain has been chosen to host the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in 2019. The Congress is one of the main enterprise gatherings from around the world.
