5.4 magnitude earthquake rocks Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean

SANAA, March 31 (YPA) –  A powerful earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the cost off the Solomon Islands in the Pacific on Sunday, The US Geological Survey Center said.

According to seismologists, the quake was recorded at 00.9 hours UTC (03.09 Moscow time).

The epicenter of the quake is located 66 kilometres north-west of Jizu city and 10 kilometres deep.

Local authorities have not reported any casualties or damage, and there have been no warnings of a tsunami.
