UAE provokes Shabwa tribes through campaign to disarm them

SHABWA, March 29 (YPA) – The UAE-backed militias on Friday launched a large-scale military campaign to withdraw weapons from tribes of Markha district in Shabwa province, in a move that provoked the tribes, who considered it an insult.

“The UAE seeks to humiliate Shabwa people and tribes, through those acts that are contrary to all the customs and traditions of the tribesmen in Shabwa,” said Mubarak bin Nasser al-Maqrahi, a tribal sheikh.

Sheikh al-Maqrahi pointed out that the UAE uses the so-called “Shabwani elite” militia to humiliate Shabwa’s tribes.

The elite forces backed by the UAE have announced a military operation during the past three days in Shabwa, under the pretext of the fight against terrorism.

Sources said that the goal of the operation is the deployment and expansion in the oil province of Shabwa, noting that no one terrorist has been arrested and no clashes have occurred with terrorists during the campaign.
