Army has enough strategic weapons to defeat coalition: Defense Minister

SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – Minister of Defense in the National Salvation Government Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Atefi on Thursday said that the Yemeni army has enough strategic weapons to deter and defeat “Saudi-led aggression coalition”.

“The aggressors will pay the price of their intransigence, and the fifth year of steadfastness will be the year of surprises and the year of great victory,” said Maj. Gen. al-Atefi in his speech at the closing ceremony of training course for directors of Logistic Support Department and leaders of logistics units.

The defense minister affirmed that the political leadership is keen on achieving the honorable peace. “But if the aggressors and their mercenaries insist on continuing their arrogance and their refusal to tend to peace and stop the aggression the response will be harsh and painful.”

“The heroes of the army and popular committees backed by the Yemeni people are capable of thwarting all plots and purging every inch of Yemen of invaders and their hired mercenaries,” he said.

Al-Atefi noted that the United Nations strives to spare Hodeidah destruction, but the aggression and its mercenaries continue their military escalation, and they have prepared during the past two months twice of what they prepared during the past four years, but all their plans would fail in the face of steadfastness of Yemeni people.

He praised the national role of Tihama residents in backing the army forces and popular committees in countering the invaders and their mercenaries.
