FM confirms Sanaa authorities’ support for humanitarian orgs working in Yemen

SANAA, March 20 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Wednesday confirmed the support of the national authorities in Sanaa for efforts of international humanitarian organizations working in the relief area in Yemen.

During his meeting in Sanaa with World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Director Dr. Ahmed al-Mandhari, Sharaf touched on the humanitarian challenges and difficulties faced by the Yemeni people in various service sectors for nearly five years due to the aggression led by Saudi-Emirati coalition.

The foreign minister referred to the serious consequences due to the systematic destruction of health infrastructure and medical facilities, and the aggravation of health risks and the spread of epidemics such as cholera, malaria and swine flu.

Sharaf said that the aggression countries have doubled the suffering of Yemeni people by imposing a comprehensive siege and preventing patients and students from traveling abroad through the continual closure of Sanaa International Airport to civil and commercial flights.

In the meeting, Dr. al-Mandhari confirmed that the WHO seeks to provide all forms of assistance to contribute to the alleviation of suffering of the Yemeni citizens.
