New Zealand’s terrorist attacker wants to represent himself in court

SANAA, March 18 (YPA) – Brenton Tarrant, the terrorist attacker on the Christchurch’s mosques in New Zealand has announced” his rejection appointing defense lawyers for him.

He wanted to represent himself in court as if he is innocent of what he attributed to him.

Lawyer Richard Peters, who was appointed by the court to defend Tarent during a preliminary hearing in court, said the latter “refused to appoint a lawyer.”

“He wants to plead for himself in the upcoming trials,” Peters said, questioning the reports that the mentally incompetent Tarrant was unlikely to appear in court.

He noted that Tarrant’s method of dialogue “was rational and does not refer to a person suffering from any mental disability. So he appeared, he seemed to understand what was happening around him.

The move raised fears that he could attempt to use the trial to express his extremist Views and attitudes.
