SANAA, March 11 (YPA) – The National Committee for Prisoners Affairs on Monday called on the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to intervene urgently to protect prisoners in Bir Ahmed camp prison run by the UAE forces in Yemen’s southern province of Aden.
“We have notified the United Nations and the ICRC of what the prisoners exposed in the prison and asked them to intervene,” the National Committee said in a statement.
The Committee added that the UAE forces stormed the prison of Bir Ahmed camp in Aden and carried out attacks on the prisoners, which resulted in many casualties.
The statement stressed that such attacks represent a clear violation of the prisoner exchange agreement, which obliges all parties to deal well with prisoners and not abuse them.
