NEWYORK, Mar.29 (YPA) – The US judiciary rejected a request by Saudi Arabia to drop a lawsuit accusing Riyadh of helping to plan the September 11 attacks.
Judge George Daniels said that he had asked Saudi Arabia to pay compensation to the victims of the aircrafts attack on the World Trade Towers in New York.
Daniels confirmed that the claimants’ claims provided him with a reasonable basis for asserting jurisdiction under the Justice Act against Terrorist Sponsors of 2016.
The judge also dismissed the claimants’ claims against two Saudi banks and a Saudi construction company that accuse the three of providing material support to al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden to carry out attacks because of lack of jurisdiction.
Many of Americans filed a lawsuit in federal courts in the United States, accusing Saudi Arabia of supporting and financing the September 11, 2001, attacks since Congress opened the door to such cases several months ago.
The lawsuit said the Saudi government helped paying for the operation by funding al-Qaeda training camps, providing logistical support for arms transfers to terrorists, as well as transporting individuals and money around the world, adding that money and support had been channeled through nine associations supported by the Saudi government, including the Saudi Red Crescent.
