Health Minister stresses importance of environmental sanitation to fight cholera

SANAA, March 7 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil on Thursday stressed the important of the environmental sanitation in fighting the cholera epidemic.

In this regard, the health minister inspected several health centers for treating people suffering from water diarrhea in the capital Sanaa and got acquainted with the medical and therapeutic services provided for patients in those centers.

The minister directed directors of the health offices and all health centers and compounds to raise their readiness to face cholera.

Dr. al-Mutawakil reiterated the responsibility of all in combating the cholera, especially with the start of the rainy season, urging the concerned authorities to start environmental treatments and address problems of drinking water associated with the fact that cholera is largely transmitted through water.
