SANAA, March 6 (YPA) – Minister of Industry and Trade Abdulwahab al-Durra, head of Yemen Standardization Metrology and Quality Control Organization (YSMO), on Wednesday stressed the important of uniting efforts of the relevant authorities to combat money laundering phenomenon.
During a workshop, organized by the organization, the minister affirmed that the goldsmiths and workers in precious metals and stones are essential partners in the fight against money laundering that harm the interest of the country, and they should have knowledge of the money laundering methods in order to cut the way for anyone who wants to deal in the market with suspicious funds.
Al-Durra stressed the need to investigate the sale and purchase transactions, which he said must be based on personal documents and official records.
He hoped that the workshop would come out with a vision and a program to be implemented by all concerned parties in order to contribute to protection of the gold and precious metals sector from dealing with doubtful funds.
