25 people killed, 194 injured in traffic accidents during January in Sanaa: Report

SANAA, Feb. 7 (YPA) – At least 25 people were killed and 194 others wounded, in 200 various traffic accidents during last January in the capital Sanaa.

The traffic accidents included 87 incidents of running over pedestrians, 97 collisions of vehicles with motorcycles, 16 fall incidents, and others, according to a report issued by the Traffic Police Department and obtained by Yemen news agency (Saba).

The most common places where incidents occur are intersections, where accidents accounted for about 67 accidents, while 133 accidents occurred at the roundabout, level road, ground bridge, and sloping roads.

The report revealed that the total material losses resulting from these accidents amounted to 91.9 million riyals, indicating that the main reasons for the accidents were due to negligence, speeding and non-compliance with traffic rules.
