SANAA, Jan. 19 (YPA) – Mexican authorities have announced on Saturday that at least 20 people had been killed and dozens more injured when a fuel pipeline exploded in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico.
“There are initial reports said that 20 people killed and more than 54 injured in the pipeline explosion,” said Hidalgo governor Omar Fayyad.
“Mexican Interior Minister Hidalgo Simon Vargas Aguilar has been instructed to provide the necessary assistance to the families of the victims, he said, adding that We are supported by the federal government with all that is necessary to resolve this situation. ”
Claudia Shinbaum, Mayor of Mexico City, reported that four medical helicopters had been dispatched to the scene by the town authorities, in addition to transporting the injured to hospitals in the capital for medical care.
The TV footage showed the flow of gasoline from the pipeline earlier on Friday after a break, and some 300 locals tried to fill their gas with the leaked fuel before the explosion occurred.
Footage circulated on social media showed flames escalate as the pipeline near Tula refinery exploded north of Mexico City, and people were screaming for help.
