Iran fails to launch long-range satellite

SANAA, Jan. 15 (YPA) – Iran’s Communications Minister Mohammad Jawad Azhari Jahrami has failed to launch a satellite into space early on Tuesday because the moon has not settled into orbit.
Jahrami said the launch failed to deliver the Biam satellite to orbit, citing the failure of the carrier rocket to reach the desired speed under the so-called third stage of the launch.
Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said in a speech in the northern province of Kulistan on Monday that Tehran planned to launch two satellites into space in the coming weeks.
Rohani added the Biam satellite would settle over a distance of 600 km from the surface of the earth, adding that it would be Iran’s first long-range satellite and would cross Iran six times a day.
