3 wounded in bombing on UN base in Somalia

SANAA, Jan. 2 (YPA) – The United Nations said three people were wounded in mortar shelling at its main base in the Somali capital Mogadishu, in an attack adopted by Takfir Youth Movement.

According to France-Presse  agency, the United Nations said in a statement, “Seven mortar shells fell on Tuesday afternoon on the campus, wounding two UN staff and a contractor, reassuring that the three injured lives are not in danger.

Takfir Youth Movement, affiliated with al-Qaeda, quickly claimed responsibility for the attack.

After being expelled from Mogadishu in 2011, Youth Movement lost most of the cities under its control, but it still controls rural areas where suicide attacks and other operations targeting government, military, security and civilian areas are under way.
