Iran: Withdrawal of US troops from Syria is not important

SANAA, Dec. 30 (YPA) – Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said on Sunday the withdrawal of US troops from Syria is not a major measure given the presence of a large number of troops in the region.

According to IRNA agency , Baqeri said during a meeting of the ‘purchase owner’ held at the headquarters of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, that Syria embodied the enemy’s attempts to create insecurity in the region.

He explained that the enemies, through the support of groups ISIS, including a group calling for Takfiri created by Western intelligence, targeted the legitimate government in Syria.

“The enemies provided full support to the terrorists and helped them through their helicopters to escape from the besieged areas and were also providing logistical assistance to them,” he said.

Baqeri added that the enemies and without the permission of the Syrian government and people occupied part of the Syrian territory and built a base in them.
