Former US general: Trump’s recent visit to Iraq is embarrassing

SANAA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – Former US general, Barry McCaffrey has criticized President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Iraq, describing it as embarrassing.

The move came in an interview with the NBC News Network on Friday.

He said it would be good for the US president to visit his troops in Iraq, but it is unacceptable that the visit, which is supposed to be to raise the spirits of soldiers, should not be turned into a political matter.

During his visit, the president signed a number of souvenirs for soldiers, including hats carrying his campaign slogan “To make America Great again.”

He criticized Trump’s remarks that the US presence in Iraq could be used to launch attacks in Syria if needed, especially after the decision to withdraw US troops from Syria, and considered it to detract from Iraqi sovereignty.
