GAZA, July 13 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces launched dozens of simultaneous air raids on the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, unleashing what Palestinian sources describe as a “belt of fire” — one of the most intense waves of airstrikes since the war began on October 7, 2023, Palestinian media reported.
The attacks lit up the skies and turned the once-inhabited area into a scene of widespread destruction.
Flames and towering plumes of smoke blanketed the town, leaving behind a charred landscape filled with rubble and darkness. By the time the bombardment subsided, little remained but scorched ruins.
Beit Hanoun had already been largely depopulated months earlier, after the Israeli army forcibly evacuated its residents under heavy shelling. On Saturday night, the town appeared to be burning alone.
The thunderous explosions echoed for kilometers and were heard as far away as Gaza City and central and southern parts of the Strip.
Palestinian sources in Gaza reported that the intensity of the explosions caused widespread panic, even among residents in Gaza City, who have become tragically familiar with the sounds and sights of war. “This time, it felt different,” one resident said.
Social media lit up with horrifying footage shared by activists, showing the moment of the airstrikes.

Witnesses said the sound of the bombardment could be heard over ten kilometers away.
Children were reportedly terrified, clinging to their mothers as they watched the ominous glow in the northern sky. The smell of smoke, thick and acrid, reached Gaza City — a stark indication of the scale of the destruction.
