Before Sweden talks, coalition wages 100 airstrikes on Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Saudi-led coalition has waged more than 100 raids since UN envoy, Martin Griffiths, left Sanaa two days ago and his announcement about a consensus on the participation of all parties in the forthcoming negotiations in Sweden.

Few hours after the departure of Griffiths, the coalition stepped up its military operations again.

During the last forty-eight hours, the coalition fighter jets launched nearly a hundred air raids on various areas of Yemen, focusing their bombing on the provinces of Hodeidah, Hajjah and Saada, which resulted in dozens of dead and wounded and large damage.

“The coalition pretends that there is a cessation of the war, while in fact it did not stop to escalate,” said Hizam al-Assad, a member of Ansaruallah political bureau.

Mohammed Abdusalam, Ansaruallah’s spokesman, confirmed that the escalation reveals “the hidden intentions to thwart al peace efforts.”

Head of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed al-Houthi, considered the escalation “an evidence of anarchy and recklessness of the aggression countries regimes.”

Observers believe that the coalition states exploit any truce announcement to prepare for a new escalation that would abort the UN efforts in organizing consultations between the Yemeni parties in Sweden at the end of this year, especially with the insistence of Sanaa delegation on halting of military operations and lifting the blockade ahead of any consultations.
