Amnesty International calls for protection of civilians in Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 17 (YPA) – Thousands of Yemeni civilians have been killed as a result of the war, and millions of people are starving because of lack of access to basic aid, Amnesty International said on Friday.

The group stressed that the Security Council today must ensure the protection of civilians and demand that all warring parties do not obstruct access to essential materials through the port of Hodeidah.

The air raids in Saudi Arabia and the UAE are killing Yemeni civilians in large numbers, the group said.

Once the airstrikes begin targeting densely populated central areas in Hodeidah city, more civilians will inevitably be killed, it added.
