Jordan: Israel’s nuclear program poses most serious threat to security in region

SANAA, Nov. 8 (YPA) – The Israeli nuclear weapons program continued to be the source of proliferation of nuclear weapons and the most serious threat to security in the region, chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Khaled Touqan said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the 12th session of the Amman Security Forum, Touqan stressed the need to implement all measures of nuclear non-proliferation globally and without exception.

He indicated that peace and security in the Middle East remain elusive as a result of Israel’s continued refusal to accede to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and Israel’s nuclear capability will trigger a possible nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
