5.6-magnitude earthquake hits China near Kazakhstan border

SANAA, Oct. 23 (YPA) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 hit China near the Kazakhstan border, the seismological experimental-methodical expedition of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan reported on Tuesday.

The Quack took place at 3:37 p.m. local time (12:37 Moscow time).

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 35 km, 456 km to the north-east from Almaty, (Kazakhstan’s capital the seismological authority said in a statement.

According to the committee, the residents of the area did not feel the tremors.

There was no tsunami warning or damage reports or casualties from the quake, the statement added.
