MERSers-CoV outbreaks in Saudi Arabia :WHO

SANAA, Oct.4 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHOh) has reported the death of 10 of 32 people had infected with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERSers-CoV) in Saudi Arabia since last June.

“The reported cases were recorded between June 1 and September 16,” the UN organization said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

The number of confirmed laboratory cases has risen to over 2,000 and 200 worldwide, including 800 deaths. ”

“Recent cases have not altered their overall assessment that the virus carries the risk of spreading within and outside the Middle East,” the organization said.

MERS-CoV causes more severe disease in people with underlying chronic conditions such as diabetes, renal failure, chronic lung disease, and immunocompromised persons.
