Detainees’ mothers in Aden appeal for saving their sons in UAE prisons

ADEN, Sept. 30 (YPA) – Abductees’ Mothers Association in the southern port city of Aden on Sunday called for revealing the fate of their sons and saving them from death in the UAE secret prisons.

Following a protest in front of home of Interior Minister in Hadi’s government, the association appealed to all local and international human rights organizations to save dozens of detainees in Bir Ahmed prison after they started an open hunger strike.

The association held the government of Hadi and the UAE-backed militia fully responsible for the lives and safety of detainees in the UAE prisons, calling for holding accountable those responsible for hiding and torturing their sons unjustly.

On Saturday, the UAE-run prison’s administration transferred two detainees went into a coma to a hospital as a result of their hunger strike for the fifth day in a row.

The prison’s administration rejects to release a number of the detainees, despite of the public prosecution and judiciary orders to release them.

Many detainees in the UAE secret prisons in Yemen’s southern provinces have been subjected to various methods of torture, including sexual assaults, according to a report by UN experts.
