Protests in South Africa accuse UAE, Britain of complicity in “Gaza genocide”

SANAA, Aug. 04 (YPA) – Dozens of activists accused the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom of complicity in the ongoing “genocide” against the residents of the Gaza Strip, by their commercial and diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation.

This came during widespread protests staged in front of the UAE Embassy in Pretoria and British Consulate in Cape Town, south African.

These protests were held as part of a “global day” called for by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) to demand an end to what it described as the “genocide” being perpetrated against the Palestinian people.

Riot police stood in front of the embassy and prevented the protesters, who were waving banners and chanting angry slogans, from approaching the embassy building, according to Arabi21.
The participants banged empty pots and held up signs reading: “UK complicit in killing children in Gaza” and “Keir Starmer says Israel has the right to cut off water”.

These demonstrations came after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced last Tuesday that his country would recognize the State of Palestine by next September unless “Israel” took substantive steps to end its aggression against Gaza. However, the activists described this announcement as “empty rhetoric,” given the continued arms exports to the occupation and the diplomatic support it receives.
