4 killed and 9 injured in armed attack in Mexico
SANAA, Sep. 16 (YPA) – Four people were killed and nine others wounded in an armed attack in central Mexico City on Saturday, coinciding with the start of Independence Day celebrations, Mexican police announced.
“The attack occurred on Friday evening at an intersection on the outskirts of Garibaldi Square, a major tourist area in Mexico City filled with bars of traditional Mexican bands,” the police said in a statement.
The statement said that “the police chased three gunmen who fled on motorcycles, and were dressed in the uniforms of members of those teams.”
“The victims were in a restaurant when the shooting started, and the forensics experts counted more than 60 bullets in the area,” media reported.
Mexican police have blamed most of the capital’s crimes on drug traffickers run by gangs across the country.
