Prominent Emirati leader arrested in island of Socotra

SOCOTRA, Sep. 1 (YPA) – The local authorities of the Islah Party arrested  on Thursday one of the prominent leaders loyal to the United Arab Emirates occupation on the island of Socotra, a local source told Yemen Press Agency on Saturday.

The local authorities of the Islah Party, which is loyal to exiled Hadi’s government in Aden, arrested “Mohammed Basn” director of “Hadebo” district, capital of Socotra province, on charges of leading armed groups against the local authority funding by the representative of the UAE occupation forces located in the island, Khalfan Mazrouei.

Abu Dhabi seeks to move the chaos of assassinations and successive crises in Aden to the island of Socotra, which enjoys security and peace away from the war that has been taking place in the country for more than three years.

Over the past few days, Abu Dhabi has stepped up its financial and military support for its loyal tribes to carry out anti-government activities from Hadi’s government and Islah’s Islah Party.
