LONDON, Oct. 17 (YPA) – The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced on Saturday that a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier was targeted in a security incident 140 nautical miles southwest of the city of Mukalla, the administrative center of Yemen’s Hadramout governorate.
According to a statement issued by the authority, a small craft carrying seven individuals approached the targeted vessel, with occupants firing two shots toward the tanker.
The UKMTO stated that the vessel’s private security team responded firmly to the incident, firing warning shots that forced the craft to retreat, change its course, and move away from the location.
The authority urged all vessels navigating the Arabian Sea to exercise utmost caution and vigilance, stressing the immediate necessity to report any suspicious movements or activities that could compromise maritime security and safety.
