Sanaa FM sends UN, Int’l organizations memoranda on Taiz situation

SANAA, Oct. 15 (YPA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa has sent on Thursday memoranda concerning the situation in Taiz Province to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the UN General Assembly, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Security Council member states, all UN member states, the European Union, and the African Union.

In the memoranda, the ministry affirmed that all main roads leading to and from Taiz city have been open and secured by the Sanaa government to facilitate civilian movement and the transportation of food, medicine, fuel, and other essential supplies.

It said the closures and obstructions were being imposed by factions affiliated with Saudi Arabia.

The memoranda stated that Saudi-affiliated forces have officially announced the closure of several vital roads and crossings. They added that these forces were blocking main roads and attempting to besiege Taiz residents in order to deepen their suffering and exploit it for media purposes.

The ministry also stated that the Saudi enemy has been targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Taiz Province on a daily basis since the beginning of the latest escalation, including homes, schools, health centers, roads, bridges, markets, and other facilities.

It noted that all government agencies were making their utmost efforts, within their available capabilities, to provide basic necessities across Taiz’s districts and alleviate the suffering of the province’s residents.

The ministry’s statement held the international community and humanitarian organizations responsible for their failure to fulfill their humanitarian duties toward the suffering of Taiz residents in particular and the Yemeni people in general, amid the continued aggression and blockade imposed by the Saudi enemy.
