Iran sets conditions to end war, agrees with Oman on safe passage in Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN, Oct. 08 (YPA) – Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, announced that his country has outlined its conditions and observations to end the war and restore security to the region and the Strait of Hormuz, confirming that responses to US proposals have been conveyed through mediators.
Baghaei revealed that Tehran and Muscat have reached an understanding regarding the geographical coordinates of safe shipping lanes in the strait, as well as the mechanism for notifying the relevant international organization. He stressed that maritime navigation security in Hormuz holds special importance for Iran, in coordination with the Sultanate of Oman.
The spokesperson rejected statements made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which he accused Iran of squandering opportunities to reach an agreement. Baghaei placed sole responsibility for regional instability and committed crimes on Washington, citing its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear agreement in 2018, its disruption of diplomatic channels, its military aggression, and its violation of the June 18 understanding.
He concluded by noting that Iran continues its efforts to build confidence and maintain communication with countries bordering the Persian Gulf to support regional security and stability.
