Human rights report documents 85 violations by Saudi-led coalition forces against civilians on western coast

SANAA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – The “Insan Rights and Freedoms Organization” revealed, in a press conference held on Sunday in Sanaa, a report documenting 85 violations targeting civilians in Yemen’s western coast regions from January 2018 to September 2026.

Deputy head of the organization, Amal Al-Makhathi, explained that approximately 80 of the documented violations were committed by the Saudi-Emirati coalition forces and their backed armed formations, while five incidents were linked to other foreign forces.

According to the report, the violations included killing and injuring, enforced disappearance, arbitrary arrest, unlawful detention, torture, forced displacement, and the targeting of fishermen and civilians, in addition to violations affecting medical and educational facilities as well as civilian objects.

The documented violations resulted in 45 deaths, 14 injured, 2,210 displaced and affected persons, 13 cases of enforced disappearance, and 15 cases of arbitrary arrest, alongside 23 cases of arrest and disappearance included within other statistics.

The report noted that among the victims of the Al-Durayhimi incident in August 2018 were 22 children and four women, while 21 civilians were killed in an airstrike that targeted a civilian vehicle returning from Al-Barh market.

The official spokesperson for the organization, Sanad Al-Sayyadi, stated that the organization relied on monitoring, documentation, and the collection of testimonies and information in preparing the report, noting that the violations were committed by the Saudi-Emirati coalition, its backed local armed formations, and the Eritrean Navy.

Al-Sayyadi held the Saudi-Emirati coalition fully responsible for the crimes and violations documented in the report.
