ISLAMABAD, Sept. 19 (YPA) – The death toll from the bombing and armed attack on the historic headquarters of the Pakistani police in Kohat, northern Pakistan, has risen to at least 31 people, including 16 police officers, according to a police official who spoke to AFP on Saturday.
The bombing occurred on Friday afternoon at the historic police center in Kohat, a city with a population of around 220,000, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northern Pakistan.
A police official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity, that several attackers “are still holed up inside the Special Branch section of the Kohat Police complex,” adding that “their number is unspecified.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but the area has been experiencing violence perpetrated by the Pakistani Taliban.
